Royal Doulton Kingsware

Introduced in the early 1900s, Royal Doulton Series Ware features functional and ornamental pieces decorated with popular imagery of the early 20th century. Many decorative techniques and glazes were developed to create the designs, which were often inspired by popular 19th century illustrators, such as Charles Dana Gibson, Cecil Aldin and Kate Greenaway. A different character or scene was depicted on each item and early customers were encouraged to complete the series, much as the collector is today. There are hundreds of Royal Doulton Series Ware patterns to collect and all are documented in five volumes of reference books written by Louise Irvine, which are available from Pascoe & Company
